This site has been most helpful in my desire to understand this math concept. I am in a Math for Elementary Teachers class, and for me math has been the most trying subject I've ever had to endure. I have a very knowledgeable instructor, but he expects you to already have some concept of certain types of math. I do have the basic's down, although most of the instructor's I've had just brush right over the different aspects of math. The lenght of time needed to achieve a good level of understanding is not a possibility. So they just suggest a tutor. When you work full-time and attend school you need the extra time for family, so a tutor is out of the question. Thank's for this site!

I personally think that the website is great. Beyond Books is great. I am currently using it for Ancient Greece. I divided the students into pairs, with each group taking one section on which they become the "experts", then create a power point presentation to "teach" the rest of the class. They have used the section questions as a starting point, and are evaluated on creativity and completeness of information. So far so good ... we have had four presentations thus far.

Love the little interactive quizzes for each site. My students are getting better and better at this method of covering content and they do like it better than a text. I am not sure that I do yet b/c I think they need something to hold on to. However they come from a different mind set than I and they are more comfortable with this medium for learning.
