| How to copy and paste a picture from a browser |
Here's how to copy and paste photographs, drawings, or diagrams from Beyond Books into other documents, such as projects or lessons.
- Windows users: Right-click on the picture, choose "Save Image As" or "Save Picture As," and store the picture on the hard drive or removable media.
- Macintosh users: Move the mouse over the picture, press the mouse button, choose "Save This Image As," and store the picture on the hard drive or removable media.

To quote brief passages from Beyond Books pages, follow this procedure to copy the text from a webpage and paste it into other programs.
- Windows users: Left-click the mouse and drag the cursor over the text. With the mouse still positioned over the text, type Ctrl+C, or right-click and select "Copy" from the drop-down menu. Move the mouse to where you want to paste the text, then type Ctrl+V, or right-click and select "Paste" from the drop-down menu.
- Macintosh users: Click and drag the cursor over the text. Copy the text by typing Command+C (Apple+C) or by selecting "Copy" from the Edit menu. Move the mouse to where you want to paste the text, then type Command+V or select "Paste" from the Edit menu.
The copy and paste functions may also be used to look up a word in the online Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary by copying the unfamiliar term and pasting it into the dictionary box on any unit or focus page.

- To remove white space (consecutive spaces) from pasted text, place the cursor at the top of the Microsoft Word document. From the Edit menu, click on "Replace …" In the dialog box that opens, enter ^w (caret+w) beside "Find what". Beside "Replace with," enter a single space (press the space bar once). Then click on the "Replace all" button to replace all consecutive spaces with a single space.
- To remove paragraph breaks from pasted text, follow the same procedure to open the Replace window. Beside "Find what," enter ^p (caret+p). Beside "Replace with," enter a single space (press the space bar once). Then click on the "Replace all" button to replace all paragraph breaks with a single space. With this method it will be necessary to insert any desired paragraph breaks manually.
