Your Desk is included with all Beyond Books programs. Your Desk is where teachers may edit their personal information, enter their class rosters, add or delete students and classes, and assist their students in finding lost passwords. Teachers can also receive and monitor their students' online responses to various exercises that are found in many programs, and track their students' use of Beyond Books. Your Desk is also where students manage their online portfolio of responses to the You Try It exercises.

Your Desk is a developing feature and will continue to grow in scope as we add programs and applications. We welcome feedback on Your Desk. Your input will help us create the interactive features you need.

Accessing Your Desk

You must log in with your user name and password before you can use the Your Desk features. From the homepage, click on the "User Log In" link in the orange box at the upper center. A new browser window will open; enter your user name and password, then click on "Continue." You will then be taken to Your Desk. After you have logged in, you can also reach Your Desk from any Beyond Books program page via the yellow navigation bar or the Your Desk link near the top of the left column.

Switching user modes or changing schools

Your Beyond Books user name and password may have access to more than one user mode, such as a teacher and an administrator mode. Also, some Beyond Books users, such as school district administrators, may have access to more than one school for the same user name. You can switch user modes or switch schools using the top of the Your Desk screen.

At the top left of the page, you will see your name in bold, with the name of your school underneath. If you have access to more than one school, you will also see a link reading "choose school." Click on this link to choose from a list of schools to which you have access.

At the top right of the page, across from your name, you will see your current user mode (such as Student, Teacher, or Administrator.) Underneath the user mode, if you have multiple modes, you will see one or more links. Click on one of these links to change user modes. For example, if you are in Teacher mode and wish to use Administrator tools, click on the "Administrator" link.
