Click on the name of a class in the Your Classes list to view and edit information for that class. You will then be presented with your current class roster and a set of controls.

- Delete Class: Click on this button to delete the class altogether. You will be asked to confirm before proceeding.
- Transfer Class: Use this function to transfer this class to another teacher in your school. Please use this feature with care; you will no longer have access to a class that you have transferred to another teacher.
- Class Portfolio: Here you may view and respond to portfolio items from the students in this class. (See the section "Class Portfolios" for more information.)
- Class Visit Log: View an overview of visits to Beyond Books by class members. (See the section "Class Visit Logs" for more information.)
- Choose Students For Class: Click on this button to add students to or remove students from the class roster. A listing of all the students in the school will appear (please be patient as this list may take some time to load.) Students who are already enrolled in the class appear in bold. To add a student to the class, select the check box in the first column ("Add"). To remove a student from the class, select the check box in the second column ("Remove"). Click on "choose students for class" at the bottom of the page to save your changes to the class roster.
How to add a class
From Your Desk, click on the "Your Classes" tab, then click on the "Add a Class" button. You will be taken to the Class Setup screen.
- First, enter a name for your class. This should be a name that both teachers and students can recognize.
- Next, choose the grade level(s) of this class by selecting the check box(es) beside the appropriate grade level(s).
- Select the discipline of this class from the six Beyond Books discipline areas: Social Studies, Science, Literature and Language Arts, World Languages, and Electives.
- The subscription information for your class is in the lower part of the screen.
- If your school has purchased a complete Beyond Books package, the package information will appear here. No action is necessary.
- If your school has purchased Beyond Books on a class-by-class basis, you will see a list of available programs and the number of seats available in each. Select the check box(es) beside the program(s) your class will be using only if they were purchased for your use. Otherwise you may unintentionally use up a subscription purchased for another class. If you need more information about the subscription your school has purchased, contact your purchasing department.
- Click on "Create Class" to save this class and add it to your school roster. Now your students will be able to join your class from Your Desk.
Click on the red button "Class Portfolios" to access student work for each of your classes. (If there is student work in your class portfolios that you have not yet returned, the Class Portfolios button will light up.) The Portfolios screen contains one portfolio for each of your classes. Click on the name of the class you want to review. You will then see a list of student portfolio items that have been submitted to you but not yet returned by you.
- If you click on a student assignment, you can make a comment and indicate whether or not the student needs to revise the work. Then you can choose to save the comment or send it.
- If you save the comment, the assignment will be returned to your Student Work page so you can send it later.
- If you send the comment, the student will be able to read your reply and revise the assignment if necessary.
- You can also view portfolio items that you have already returned to students by clicking on "view returned items" at the bottom of the class portfolio page.
View an individual student's portfolio items by clicking on the red button "Your Classes", choosing a class, and choosing a student from your class roster. You will then see a list of student portfolio items that have been submitted to you or returned by you.
Click on the red button "Assignments" to view a list of the assignments you have sent to your classes. One record will appear per assignment per class. Click on an assignment title to view the assignment you sent to your class. For more information about sending assignments to your classes, please go on to the next page.
Click on the red button "Class Visit Logs" to view a visit log for one of your classes. In this area, you can also view visit logs for your students to see which of them have visited a Beyond Books page that you assigned. Click on a class name to view its visit log. On the Class Visit Log screen is a list of the Beyond Books pages viewed by members of this class. (Note: This list includes all pages viewed by all class members, so some of these may have been visited by students for other purposes such as other schoolwork or personal interest.)
The second part of the page lists students in this class who visited Beyond Books this week. Click on a student's name to view that student's individual visit log for the week.
Click on the red button "Registration Codes" to access teacher and student registration codes. You may give these codes to other teachers or to students if they have not yet set up their Beyond Books access. Please give the teacher registration code to teachers only; the student registration code should be given to students.
